Before your arrival, you will receive several online courses that you will need to complete. These are Patient Red Flags, Sedation Management of the Medically Compromised Patient, and Sedation/Medical Emergency Drugs
SEAM:-
SEAM is a two-year program for the dentist AND their staff! Team training is the key to handling a sedation/medical emergency. No one should die in a dental office!
Pre-Arrival Online Courses:-
Before your arrival, you will receive several online courses that you will need to complete. These are Patient Red Flags, Sedation Management of the Medically Compromised Patient, and Sedation/Medical Emergency Drugs
In Person Didactic Program:-
consists of an all-day intense training. The dentist can choose Saturday or Sunday as their training day. The morning portion is dedicated to Sedation Emergencies for all our dentists. This will be recognizing and managing sedation emergencies, including but not limited to Respiratory Emergencies, Laryngospasm, Cardiac Events, Stroke/ Syncope, Seizures, and Anaphylaxis Allergic Reaction. The afternoon portion is dedicated to Airway Management and Emergencies. The practitioner will be exposed to the airway hierarchy through advanced skills stations ending with cricothyrotomy.
If the dentist requires ACLS Renewal, this will take place on Friday, 1-5 pm. This is an add-on option if dentists need to renew their ACLS.
Then comes TPDL or Team Preparational Distance Learning.
The dentist and their staff will receive Mock Medical/Sedation Emergency Drills worth one hour of CE each. These mock drills can be done as soon as possible, or the team may spread them out over the two-year period. Upon completion of each mock drill, the participant will receive a CE certificate worth one hour. Please see below for the list of Mock Drills you and your team will receive. Other online courses for the staff will be:

- Sedation/Medical Emergency Drugs
Once your staff has completed all the SEAM courses and Mock Drills, they will receive their own SEAM Certificate of completion.
Finally, the SEAM Handouts. You will be provided with 13 handouts that are the blueprint for establishing medical/sedation emergency preparedness for your office.
We recommend you assign one of your staff members as the SEAM Safety officer. They will be responsible for making sure the implementation of these handouts takes place within the office.
When your two-year period is nearing its end, you will be notified of renewing again.

He writes and lectures extensively nationwide about Medical/Sedation Emergencies and Emergency Drugs in the Dental Office. He created the R.E.A.D.Y. Program (Readiness, Emergencies & Airway Development program for Your team). He co-authored a book on medical emergencies, has over fifty (50) online courses on medical emergencies, sedation emergencies, and pediatric emergencies, along with almost 100 articles on the subject. He is dedicated to Patient Safety in the dental office.
